Enter the world of shamanic journeying as you access altered states of consciousness (ASC) by creating a sacred space, using breathing techniques, imagery, sound vibrations, and stories.
Although every session is different, these can take anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes. The process teaches you how to access shifts in perception to right-brain functioning by slowing down the thinking mind driven by the logic of your left brain hemisphere. Journeying to the shamanic worlds encourages opening your heart to imagination and intuition in acceptance of all. Experiences are created for you to become the author and active participant in promoting changes to your mental, emotional, and physical perception.
What are altered states of consciousness?
ASC refers to states of mind that are not ordinarily found in regular waking life. An ASC can be described as a subjective and enhanced state of consciousness. The mental states we experience are constantly shifting based on our interpretation of the environment. ASC form part of our daily lives and can be induced by the merit of our own choices and behaviors. This can take place at different times of the day as our consciousness drifts in and out of alertness. Some examples of altered states experienced in daily life are drowsiness, daydreaming, sleep, dreaming. Many have experienced the effects of ASC as a child while spinning in circles tirelessly until feeling dizzy. ASC can be achieved voluntarily and at will, as seen in relaxation exercises, praying, meditation, fasting, hypnosis, dancing, physical exercise, and chanting.
As part of learning to access ASC, you will become more attuned to your body. Listening to your body is of most importance to mastering your healing experience. Journeying into the shamanic realms offers unique opportunities to explore within to bring balance and order to your inner world. Our external world does not encourage an even development of our brain hemispheres, so an active commitment to bring harmony back to our lives is required. By default of living in a globalized world, we are expected to function us left-brain dominant beings. There is further segmentation between the head and body as we have learned to perceive them as separate.
The requirements of a developing technological society are taking a toll on human-spiritual evolution. This dismemberment seen in brain hemispheres and head-body relationship is cause for disorientation and calls for a re-integration of all systems.
Shamanism is at the core of my daily practice as I integrate mind, body, and spirit in all that I do. I have daily ritualistic practices that serve as gateways that transcend the physical and enter the realms of our inner worlds. These experiences have the quality of raising the dimensional vibration around us and centering our intentions on love, acceptance, compassion, forgiveness, kindness, and gratitude in a world that has lost its sensitivity for the healing effects of living in balance with nature and all of creation.
